Man claims daughter almost ate 'live maggot' found on Lindt chocolate
A Victorian man says his daughter will be in no hurry to binge on Easter chocolate, after she almost bit into a Lindt ball which he claims had a maggot inside.
Bill Capell told 3AW radio on Tuesday his daughter, 30, had opened a sealed box of chocolates and found a wriggly surprise when she unwrapped one of the treats.
He sent in a video to the radio station, which later appeared on its website, of a live 'weevil-like' creepy crawly poking out of the chocolate.
Mr Capell said the chocolate came from a sealed box with an expiry date of the end of April 2017.
"The very first chocolate she opened, right there was a maggot," he claimed.
"If she picked it up and the maggot was on the other side she would have consumed a maggot, which would've been good protein anyway I suppose," he laughed.
"You wouldn't have thought chocolate would have a maggot in it. You see it in other foods but I thought chocolate wouldn't have maggots."

Mr Capell said his daughter would be sending the clip to Lindt to investigate.
At time of publication, Lindt Australia CEO Steve Loane told 7 News Online the company had not yet received a complaint from the family, but he was aware of the claim from earlier media reports.
"We haven't received anything as yet, so we can't tell what product is it."
He said Lindt would investigate the matter once the complaint was received from the family.
"We have a pretty thorough quality control processes," he added.
