Model apologises after allegedly raping 'wrong roommate’

A male model accused of raping a woman in a New York apartment has apologised profusely… for hopping into bed with the wrong roommate.

Henry Romero had reportedly spent the night drinking with two women, one of who offered her bedroom floor for the 30-year-old model to sleep on.

The woman who offered her Manhattan apartment floor to Romero told the New York Post she had been on a date with him that night but she left early for food when he "became creepy".

“He said, ‘I want you to dance for me — that’s why I brought you here',” the roommate recalled to The Post.

As the date came to an end, the woman's housemate, a temporary visitor from another country, had returned home and fallen asleep in the wrong bed.

Moments later, Romero returned to the apartment.

“He went into my room, thinking it was me!” the alleged victim’s roommate told the New York Post.

“I heard her say, ‘Get off me! Get off me!’ and then he said, ‘I’m sorry! I thought you were [your roommate].”

As Romero apologised, claiming he’d mistaken one of the women for the other, the alleged victim screamed “What do you mean? She’s blonde and I have black hair.”

Romero remains free on $US3000 ($4000) bail on felony rape charges.

He’s due back in court on Aug. 1.
