'Help, help help': Terrified boy left dangling from ski-lift.

A terrified young skier has faced a serious uphill battle after he was left dangling from a Utah mountain chairlift.

It’s usually the downhill portion of skiing that causes the most drama, but when the young boy tried to make his exit his backpack became snagged and he was left stranded as the lift continued its way up the mountain.

Overhearing desperate cries for help, Phil Warner captured the dramatic rescue operation that saw the lift shut down and snow patrol vehicles rush to the scene with a ladder.

“I think he was hurting. I think the backpack was holding his weight on his arms,” Mr Warner told Fox News.

With two men holding the ladder on the icy surface, another man climbed up to release the snagged backpack and pull the boy to safety.

As the swift rescue process would suggest, the incident was not a particularly rare one according to the mountain’s director of operations, Czar Johnson.

"People get caught up in chairlifts with backpacks and even ski jackets and ski poles and helmets, it does happen," Mr Johnson said.

"It's a good idea to check your backpack, move around a little bit, make sure you aren’t caught up on anything before you do unload.”
