Criminal outs himself to police on Facebook

A sex offender who fled to Australia from the UK has been arrested after giving himself away on Facebook.

Steven Allison was charged with sexually assaulting two women in a Leeds pub in 2013.

But he failed to turn up to a sentencing hearing in February last year.

In his absence, the judge sentenced him to 30 months behind bars.

It has now been revealed the 27-year-old fled to Australia and got a job as a construction worker.

British police learnt that Allison was living in Sydney, and later Canberra after seeing a post on his social media.

In it he boasted about his new life down under.

A joint investigation was launched between British and Australian authorities and Allison was tracked down in Canberra and arrested by police.

He was extradited to the UK but not before trying to escape again.

Allison is now in the hands of British police and is expected to face court before beginning his sentence.
