Woman wins $61m in lottery with numbers from husband's dream

A woman has won an incredible $61 million lottery prize after using numbers her husband dreamed of years ago.

Deng Pravatoudom, from Toronto, in Canada said she has been playing her husband’s numbers since they appeared to him while asleep one night 20 years ago, Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) said last week.

His dream came true when Ms Pravatoudom won AU$61 million during the Lotto Max draw on December 1.

The 57-year-old mum of two said she was beyond excited after learning of her incredible luck.

“I left my temple after prayers, went to a nearby mall for some errands and to check my Lotto Max ticket. I won a Free Play ticket and added Encore. I couldn’t believe a few days later that free ticket would be worth $60 million!” she said.

Ms Pravatoudom said her husband checked the ticket as she paid some bills at the bank.

When she got back to to their car, he broke the news.

“He was serious, not joking, so I knew he was telling the truth. I started to cry. I have always prayed for a blessing that my family would be taken care of!” she said.

Winner was laid off due Covid pandemic

Ms Pravatoudom said she moved to Canada from Laos with her 14 siblings in 1980.

“My family was sponsored by a local church and because we had nothing, I am thankful for the great support they provided us over the years,” she said.

“My husband and I have worked long hours as general labourers for over 40 years, trying to save what we could for our family.

“Due to the pandemic I was laid off last spring, so this money will certainly help make our lives much easier.”

The couple and their children are now planning to move out of their apartment and buy a house before helping some immediate and extended family.

Ms Pravatoudom said she is also excited to travel and wants to “see the world”.
