Woman's 'unbelievable' discovery while paying electricity bill

A woman who sat down to pay an expensive electricity bill had an unexpected surprise when she discovered she was a millionaire.

On Sunday morning, the woman from the Southern Highlands in NSW went to complete the task she had been avoiding when she decided to check her entry in the Saturday Lotto on January 16.

It was then she realised she held one of six division one winning entries, scooping $1,052,281.12.

The woman told The Lott she would use her winnings to pay off her mortgage, and enjoy the financial freedom the large windfall brought with it.

“I just can’t believe it,” the winner told The Lott.

“I am beside myself. I can’t sleep. I can’t do anything.

“I’m in shock. I always thought things like this just don’t happen to people like me. It’s so exciting.”

The woman said since discovering the news on Sunday she had been walking around in a daze.

“I typed in the ticket number and when the amount came up, I started screaming and crying and carrying on,” she told The Lott.

“It’s unbelievable. I am so happy.

“It still hasn’t sunk in.”

Newsagent excited that local won big prize

The lucky winner purchased her 50-game QuickPick at Cameron’s Newsagency in Bowral, and owner David Hastings said he was glad the ticket was sold to a local.

“This is great news for us and even better news to know this incredible win has gone to someone from the region,” he said.

“Everyone has been buzzing with excitement knowing that someone from the Southern Highlands has taken home this prize.

“We’ve sold a few division one winning entries over the years, and it’s always exciting.”

The winning division one numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4121 were 17, 12, 22, 4, 14 and 33, with supplementary numbers 25 and 28.

The six division one winning entries in the Saturday Lotto draw came from across Australia, with two from Victoria, two from WA and one in both South Australia and NSW.
