Woman outraged by discovery at free camping sites

A Perth woman said it’s “no wonder” free camping is “being eroded” after coming across several campgrounds covered in garbage.

The woman wrote on Facebook she went on a trip recently to a number of different free camping grounds adding “they were not near towns”.

“The rubbish is left behind by a traveller of some sort,” she wrote.

“We take a pair of garden gloves with us and pick up at least one bag of garbage at each stop and dispose of it either in the bins provided or at another suitable place.

The woman included photos of some of the conditions she encountered.

A number of discarded car tyres are seen along with plastic wrappers, shopping bags and bottles.

She challenged everyone who read her post to pick up a bag of rubbish when using a free camp and post a photo of it.

“Let’s give caravaners a good name,” she wrote.

One man wrote the campers using free grounds are some of the most “inconsiderate” around.

Others called the litterers “despicable”, “pigs” and “morons”.

A woman added “these people are absolute grubs”.

“Disgusting, can’t believe that campers desecrate our environment and leave it in such a disgusting state for other campers,” one man wrote.
