Woman dumped in bin as baby searching for rescuers 36 years later

A woman found as a baby in a garbage bin 36 years ago is trying to find the people who saved her.

Amanda Jones was found abandoned in a garbage bin in the US state of Atlanta in January 1983, news station 11 Alive reports.

When she was found, no one could determine anything about her identity. Hospital staff called her Jan Winter - naming her after the month and season she was born.

While Ms Jones forgives her mum for abandoning her but she has no interest in finding her biological parents.

She’s now a mum of three but wants to find whoever rescued her from the bin.

"I can't imagine being the person who found a baby, not knowing all these years what happened to that baby and I want them to know I have led a wonderful life,” she said.

Ms Jones said she became determined to find her rescuers after seeing news of baby India who was found abandoned in a plastic bag in June.

"I immediately felt connected to that baby," Ms Jones said.

More than 1000 people offered to give baby India a home and it’s believed she’s now in the care of a foster family.
