Why accused dine-and-dash woman has started a crowd funding page
One half of an alleged dine-and-dash couple accused of leaving a string of unpaid restaurant bills across Perth has started a crowd funding page to raise money so she can hire a lawyer and end the “witch-hunt” targeting her.
A number of Perth restaurants this month shared images of a woman and her male companion, accusing them of not paying for their meals, including a $250 bill for food and drinks at 3Sheets.
Other restaurants, including Elmar’s in the Valley and Terrazza Café, followed suit and released their own images of the couple.
But now a GoFundMe page claims she is the victim of the media and internet trolls.
“I have been made part of a witch hunt in Perth Western Australia [sic],” reads the GoFundMe page
“The media has plastered misleading story [sic] of events and it has become a circus of disgusting behaviour from internet trolls and others I prefer not to name."
She said she urgently required money for a lawyer so she can be given a "fair chance" to defend herself in a court of law.
“I know there are good people out there that believe in people having what is fair and stick up for people who society decides to turn on," she added.
"So many times injustice is done to people and without money to fight it people are convicted wrongly. Please help for the sake of my family and what is true and right.”
In the six days since the page was created, only one donation worth five dollars has been made.
