IGA staff tackle would-be cheesecake thief armed with syringe

Staff at a regional grocery store in Western Australia have tackled and detained a would-be thief who was armed with a syringe.

The man was filmed grabbing a box of frozen cheesecakes before placing them down his pants on Sunday afternoon.

Staff at the Girrawheen IGA later confronted him and wrestled the man to the ground.

They held him in the carpark until police arrived.

He was taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital following the ordeal.
