Terrified grandmother, 87, victim of a brazen bag snatch - and all they got was $5
A Perth grandmother has been left badly frightened after a brazen bag snatch outside her retirement home.
The 87-year-old was attacked in Carlisle by a man and a woman whom she has described as "cowards".
Grace was only metres away from her front door when she was attacked.
"As I went across the lawn I did think, why are they walking across the lawn?
"The next thing I knew, I was on the ground."
Grace's handbag was ripped from her arm and she was left alone, lying injured on the grass.
"They're cowards, attacking old people," she said.
The bag snatch happened just after midday on Tuesday on Memorial Avenue.
Grace had been in the city, volunteering at a community centre.
She was followed off the train by the man and woman, who attacked her after she had walked home.
The pair went straight to a bottle shop nearby and tried to buy alcohol - but Grace was too quick for them.
She had cancelled all of her bank cards by the time the bag snatchers even got to the checkout.
All they got was a $5 note.
Kensington detectives want to speak to two people in relation to the incident.
One is a dark-skinned man aged between 25 and 30.
The other is a fair-skinned woman with shoulder-length brown hair.
