Rick Ardon

Channel Seven Perth News Presenter Rick Ardon, was born and bred in Perth.

Rick first joined TVW on August 7, 1978 as a news journalist, but quickly moved to the position of News Presenter.

He had previously started as a journalist with The West Australian newspaper and achieved the Selwyn Prior Award for WA Cadet of the Year.

Since he began with TVW more than 30 years ago, Rick has won 10 Logie Awards as WA's Most Popular TV Personality.

He attributes a large part of his success to the fact he had a good grounding in news as an on-the-road reporter.

His coverage of major events for Channel Seven has ranged from the Gulf conflict in the Middle East to Schapelle Corby’s release in Bali and the Amrozi bombing trial in Bali, as well as the Monaco Grand Prix and the Cannes Film Festival.

Rick’s reporting for Seven News nationally has included the Indian Ocean search for missing Malaysian flight 370, as well as the fatal Victorian bushfires.

Another major event Rick covered was the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. There he presented the news live from Homebush Stadium, keeping Western Australians up to date with the progress of WA, Australian and world athletes. He also presented night-time bulletins to a nationwide audience from the Olympics.

Rick has written and produced three documentaries that have aired on Channel Seven – Lives in the Balance, a look at the heroic efforts to save 114 whales stranded on our south coast; Riviera Rich and Raunchy, on the glamour of the south of France and a third documentary he filmed and produced while on holiday in the Pacific.

Rick, his wife and children now reside near the beach in Perth so that he is never too far from his favourite pastime – surfing.

He has played Australian Rules Football for more than 40 years and enjoys frequent trips to WA’s south west for its lovely beaches, quality wines and magnificent scenery.
