'The wind was pushing me': WA driver blames speeding on windy conditions

Police in Western Australia clearly thought one speeding driver was full of hot air after they heard his excuse on Monday.

The explanation was simple: “The wind was pushing me”.

Unsurprisingly, officers were not immediately convinced the Geraldton weather was capable of pushing the car up to 127 kilometres per hour on Edward Road, Bootenal.

He was hit with a $200 fine and two demerit points, but his potentially overblown explanation led Three Springs Police to take an extra step.

Using their official Twitter account, the station mocked the motorist by declaring: “And excuse of the day goes to ...”
