Kurdish Demonstrators Gather Outside US Consulate in Erbil to Protest Iraqi Offensive in Kirkuk

In the wake of the Iraqi military offensive to retake Kirkuk from the Kurdish Regional Government, demonstrators gathered outside the US Consulate in Erbil on October 21 to protest against the use of American-made weapons in the Kirkuk operation.

A flag was pulled down from the US Consulate, while additional flags were pulled down outside the Iranian and Russian consulates in similar protests.

Rudaw reported that talks between the Iraqi and Kurdish governments are likely to begin over the coming days to discuss the future of the recent Kurdish independence referendum. Credit: YouTube/Kurdistan24 via Storyful
