Terrifying video shows huge shark circling oblivious swimmer

A shark has been filmed lurking just metres from a swimmer paddling obliviously through crystal clear waters.

The predator was filmed by a man living in a beachside apartment as it trailed a woman swimming at Panama City Beach in the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday morning.

Stan Battles was the man behind the camera, telling News Herald he had been watching the shark for several hours as it swam patterns through sea grass.

He watched in horror as the woman swam “directly over it”, as the rest of the people on the beach sat completely unaware.

Two minutes went by before someone on the beach noticed the shark, prompting others to shout at the woman to get out of the water.

The woman could then be seen making a very swift exit from the ocean, with Mr Battles heading to the shoreline to show her evidence of the close call.

“She never saw it. She was just like, ‘I think I’m done with the ocean’,” he said.

He then uploaded the video to Facebook, where it was shared almost 2,500 times.
