Victoria records one new Covid case with source unknown

Victoria has recorded one new local Covid-19 case as the state starts the weekend off with restrictions eased.

The health department also confirmed on Saturday three new cases acquired overseas in the past 24 hours to midnight.

"Investigations are underway into the acquisition source," a tweet said.

"Full case, testing and vaccination numbers are being re-verified and will be available shortly."

There were 15,110 test results were received on Friday and 20,660 vaccine doses were administered.

Virus testing rates in some areas of Melbourne are lower than health authorities would like and Acting Premier James Merlino has implored Victorians to come forward for testing.

Currently there are 74 active Covid-19 cases in Victoria.

On Friday, Victoria confirmed no new locally-acquired cases of Covid-19 on the first day of lockdown being lifted.

The 'donut day' was the first day the state recorded no new locally-acquired Covid-19 cases since the outbreak was first detected on May 24.

The latest outbreak spread through the local government area of Whittlesea, north of the city, and the seaside suburb of Port Melbourne, forcing Melbourne into a two-week "circuit breaker" lockdown, which ended on Friday.

Separately, a west Melbourne family were infected with the highly infectious Delta strain and that also became a cluster during lockdown.

New Covid exposure sites in Victoria

Several new exposure sites were added to the extensive list on Friday, including a Coles Express and several stores inside a shopping centre.

Victoria uses a tiering system to determine what people should do if they have been to an exposure site.

Anyone who visited a Tier One exposure site must immediately isolate, get a Covid-19 test and quarantine for 14 days from the date of exposure.

For people who visited a Tier Two exposure site, people must get a Covid-19 test and isolate until they receive a negative result.

People who have visited a Tier Three exposure site must monitor for symptoms and get tested immediately if any present.
