Dashcam captures man holding a fridge while sitting in a ute tray

A man has been filmed sitting in the tray of a ute holding a fridge in a bizarre video captured in Melbourne.

Dashcam footage of the incident was shared on Facebook by Dash Cam Owners Australia showing the man grasping the appliance as the driver travels through Richmond.

The man sits in the tray of a Mitsubishi as the driver turns off Yarra Boulevard in Richmond onto Swan Street on Sunday morning.

The man initially holds the fridge with one arm but then grasps it with two as the driver steers around a corner.

The video cuts as the ute heads towards Madden Grove.

It has more than 20,000 views.

It’s not known if the fridge and the ute’s passengers made it safely to their destination but Facebook users said they were lucky if they walked away without a fine.

One user suggested spending $5 on rope to tie the fridge down was better than facing a fine of $500.
