Farmer gives strangled dog mouth-to-snout resuscitation after freak accident
The bond between a farmer and his working dog is legendary so when a freak accident threatened to claim a Victorian man’s beloved kelpie, he jumped into action.
When Glenn Rowe went to retrieve Jack, he found his sheep wrangling partner laying motionless after strangling himself with a lead on a quad bike.
The Wimmera farmer picked up his six-year-old and began performing mouth-to-snout resuscitation.
“I pressed on his chest like this to try and get him going,” Glenn told 7 News.
“Then I had to get him like that and put my mouth over his nose and blow.
“I did that for a little bit and then he started to come good and start breathing.”
He realised what he was doing was extreme, but a small sacrifice for his mutt mate.
“I thought ‘no, I'm not worried about doing it, I just have to do it. It'll be 'right’.”
Meanwhile, Jack remains blissfully unaware of all the drama he’s created for his boss.
“He was very glassy-eyed. I thought he might have brain damage, but he's good as new, you wouldn't even know that there's anything wrong with him now, so I was very lucky.”
