A terminally-ill grandmother has been given the surprise of her life, thanks to her adoring family.

Marcia Watts, who has incurable form of cancer, does not know how long she has left, and was making the most of every precious moment, when she was suddenly at the centre of one of the most special of all.

Mrs Watts, of Malmsbury, was expecting a small backyard concert from her adoring grandsons.

Then the 67-year-old's daughter and two sons joined in.

Before she knew it, 200 admirers, including lifetime friends and family, had filled her backyard.

“What is going on?” a shocked Ms Watts asked.

Guests had been given strict instructions to learn the flash mob dance to the song, ‘You’ve Got the Best of My Love’, and the result was amazing.

Marcia's son, Justin Murphy, said: “You deserve more than this but this is the best we can give you at this stage.”

Mrs Watts was diagnosed with neuro endocrine cancer 20 months ago, which has spread to her lungs, pancreas and lymph nodes.

Her daughter, Ali Waight, wanted her mum’s life to be celebrated, and she wanted her to be there for it.

“It’s funny,” said Ms Waight.

“On the day, so many people came up to me and said, ‘Why do we only do this and talk about people at their funeral, and the people can’t hear it?’”

Marcia's husband, Ian Watts, said: “Even though she’s got cancer, she tells me every day there are people worse off than her, so how special is she?”

Those words were echoed by all at the party, who described Ms Watts as ‘bubbly, a fantastic lady, gorgeous, fabulous, gives good kisses and cuddles’.

The flash mob party was deemed a huge success and went well into the night.

Most importantly, Ms Watts had the time of her life.

“It’s a really nice thing to think you’ve had a life where people have liked you, appreciated you and you’ve had fun with them,” she said.

“I don’t know anybody else who has got this joy at the moment.”
