Lewd campervan parked outside children's centre

A notorious van rental company is in hot water again after one of its explicitly decorated campers was parked outside an Adelaide childcare centre.

The vehicle, which features lewd images of the male anatomy, was parked just metres from curious little eyes at the Grey Ward Children's Centre in Wright Street this morning.

Residents, staff and parents were shocked by the van - right at their front door.

"I'm just disgusted that the company can hire them out," said the acting centre manager Debbie McLean. "I don't think it's right. I think it's quite immoral."

Police were called and the council issued a parking ticket, before the backpacker who rented the campervan arrived.

The embarrassed and apologetic French tourist parked the vehicle in the dark at 3am this morning and insisted she was unaware of its close proximity to a children's centre.

"I've only lived around here a few days and I went on a trip so I was not aware there were children. I’m so sorry," she said.

She said the hire company gave her no choice about the van she got.

South Australia Police filed a report with the Advertising Standards Bureau, but for years Wicked Campers has refused to comply with orders to remove the offensive paint work.
