Urgent recall issued on popular health food product

A popular protein bar has been recalled after it was found to contain an allergen not listed in its ingredients.

The Bondi Protein Co Vegan Protein Bar in the chocolate and salted caramel flavours was recalled by Yours Truly Chocolates on Friday.

Food Standards Australia and New Zealand revealed the products were being recalled due to the presence of peanuts, which was not an allergen declared on the ingredients list.

The bars were on sale nationwide at Australian discount pharmacy retailer Chemist Warehouse.

The recall applied to the 60 gram chocolate flavour bar with the best before dates of February 4, 2022, and March 14, 2022.

The 60 gram salted caramel bar with the best before date of January 29, 2022 was also recalled.

Consumers "with a peanut allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed", Food Standards said.

While the product is safe for most people, consumers who have an allergy or intolerance to peanuts have been urged to return the products to Chemist Warehouse for a refund.

Those seeking further information were encouraged to contact the Chemist Warehouse customer service team.

Earlier this month Aldi was forced to recall a $229 recliner chair over fears it was unstable and could tip over.
