Hundreds of students in isolation on first day of holidays

Hundreds of Sydney students and staff members have been forced to isolate on the first day of school holidays after a child tested positive for Covid-19.

The student at Rose Bay Secondary College in the city's eastern suburbs is a new infection that will be counted in Tuesday’s case numbers, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

The high school’s principal Melina Bright sent an email to the more than 1,300 students and staff members on Monday afternoon informing them of the news.

“NSW Health has requested anyone who has been unwell or if you develop any symptoms ... to be tested at one of the COVID-19 testing clinics,” Ms Bright wrote, the publication reported.

The school will be closed from Tuesday for cleaning and to allow health authorities to perform contact tracing.

The Bondi Covid cluster climbed to 130 cases on Monday after the state recorded 18 new infections.

Of those, two are students who attend South Coogee Public School and another is a student at Emanuel School in Sydney’s east. The latter attended school whilst infectious, chief health officer Dr Kerry Chant said on Monday.

The 550 students at South Coogee are considered close contacts and must isolate for 14 days, the SMH reported.

Staff and the 450 students at Emanuel have been told to isolate until further advice.

New Covid exposure sites added to growing list

More Covid exposure sites have been named by NSW Health, including a Bunnings, Woolworths and Coles Express.

Anyone who visited the following locations at the times listed is considered a close contact and must get tested and isolate for 14 days no matter what the result:

  • Domino’s Pizza in Merrylands from 6:20pm to 6:50pm on June 21

  • Glenquarie Hotel in Macquarie Fields from 5pm to 11:30pm on June 22, June 23 and June 24

  • Black and Gold Espresso in Rosebery from 10:30am to 11:30am on June 25.

Anyone who visited the following locations at the times listed is considered a casual contact and must get tested and isolate until a negative result is received:

  • Shell Coles Express in Pagewood from 11am to 11:30am on June 23

  • Westpac Marrickville from 2:30pm to 4pm on June 21, June 22 and June 23

  • Bakers Delight at Pacific Square Shopping Centre in Maroubra from 3:30pm to 3:40pm on June 23

  • Royale Poultry at Pacific Square Shopping Centre in Maroubra from 3:30pm to 3:40pm on June 23

  • Woolworths Glenquarie Town Centre in Macquarie Fields from 12pm to 4:30pm on June 25

  • Bunnings Eastgardens in Hillsdale from 4pm to 4:30pm on June 25

  • Coles Express in Alexandria from 9:45am to 10:30am on June 26

  • Harvey Norman at Westfield Bondi Junction from 11:20am to 11:30am on June 25

  • JB Hi-Fi at Westfield Bondi Junction from 11:30am to 11:40am on June 25

  • Shell Coles Express in Alexandria from 10am to 10:15am on June 26

Anyone who attended the following store at the listed time should monitor for get tested and isolate if they appear:

  • First Choice Liquor in Maroubra all day on June 26
