Perth Glory pair Andy Keogh and Josh Risdon have avoided a club-imposed match ban and will both be available to play against Melbourne City at AAMI Park this Sunday.

The A-League leaders have chosen to fine 28-year-old Keogh half of hisweekly salary, including match fees, as punishment after the Irishman was arrested outside an Adelaide nightclub early on Monday morning.

Risdon, 22, was handed a suspended fine and will only have to pay the penalty if he again breaches the league’s code of conduct before the end of this season.

The fines are the maximum able to be imposed under section five of Football Federation Australia’s statutes.

The penalties were meted out little more than 24 hours after the Glory pair was arrested in Adelaide’s CBD for their alleged involvement in a public disturbance.

Keogh’s arrest came after he was caught allegedly urinating in public by police.

The Glory striker was charged with disorderly conduct and is due to front the Adelaide Magistrate’s Court on March 19. Risdon was charged by police for failing to move on from an area.

Glory chief executive Jason Brewer defended the club’s decision not to give the players a suspension after completing their own internal investigation.

“I think you can agree that the club has moved very quickly and decisively in its investigation,” Brewer said.

“We’ve applied the maximum permissible penalties that we can and we want this matter to be resolved as soon as possible.

“The players have accepted the penalties we’ve put forward. They’ve apologised to the club (and) the playing group.”
