Top Swan open to NRL switch

Sydney Swans co-captain Kieren Jack says he would one day consider a move to the NRL, the code in which his father Garry earned legendary status in the 1980s.

Jack, 27, has played 160 games for the Swans since his debut in 2007 at the age of 19.

But asked if he would consider playing the game in which his fullback father was a Balmain Tigers, NSW and Australian Test hero, the midfielder told Sydney radio he hadn't ruled it out.

"You’d never say never, I tell you," Jack said.

"I mean I loved rugby league as a kid, I certainly did but I've found a path in AFL and I’m rapt with that, but I mean I can certainly see why players do it ... it's certainly a big challenge and there is a bit of a financial reward there but the challenge it offers these players … it can be really rewarding.

"I’ll just say yes ... yes ... why not?"

Father Garry said in 2010 his son would make an "exceptional" fullback in the NRL and believes the switch is something Kieren would enjoy.

"I think its something he'd like to do," Garry Jack said. "Kieren would love the challenge of testing himself against rugby league players.

"He played the game until he was 14 so he knows what to do.

"I think he'd make a great halfback. Imagine him at the Tigers playing inside Benji Marshall.

"On the fifth tackle he'd kick and land it on a sixpence. Personally, I'd love to see him do it one day if that's what he wants ... but it's his call."
