Sore Clarke a concern for Dockers

Fremantle ruckman Zac Clarke is suffering knee soreness and is in doubt for Saturday’s western derby.

Clarke missed Fremantle’s Tuesday training session and spent this morning doing running drills with his right knee bandaged under the watchful eye of Dockers strength and conditioning coach Jason Weber.

Dockers coach Ross Lyon said the club were “hopeful” that Clarke would be fit to face West Coast ruck duo Dean Cox and Nic Naitanui.

“He has got a bit of a sore knee though. He has to jump a few hurdles this week.”

Lyon said the Dockers were not lacking tall options should Clarke not recover in time.

“Jon Griffin, Jack Hannath, Taberner, Apeness and Kepler Bradley,” he said. “It has been a challenge having three reconstructions on the list and two of them tall but they have come to hand and they are available for selection.”

The Dockers are already without tall defenders Luke McPharlin, Michael Johnson and small forward Michael Walters.

Matt De Boer is fit for selection but is more likely to resume in the WAFL while Lyon again declared Anthony Morabito in contention but not certain to be picked.
