British boxer hunts down Twitter 'keyboard warrior'

British boxer Curtis Woodhouse got so mad, he decided to track his Twitter tormentor down.

Woodhouse, a former footballer with Hull and Sheffield United, set off to find the Twitter user, known as @jimmyob88, who had been abusing him with vile insults via the social media network following his English light-welterweight title fight loss on Friday.

Woodhouse tweeted: “I’ll give £1000 ($A1460) to anybody who provides me with an address and picture of this man. Knock, knock.”

Somebody supplied Woodhouse with the address and the fighter kept a running commentary of his actions.

"Just on my way to Sheffield to have a little chat with a old friend, get the kettle on," he wrote.

The boxer even showed up on the person’s street in northern England, tweeting: "Someone tell me what number he lives at or do I have to knock on every door #it'sshowtime."

That brought a marked change from @jimmyob88, who quickly realised he was in trouble.

"I am sorry it's getting a bit out of hand," he tweeted. "I am in the wrong. I accept that."

Another grovelling apology followed before Woodhouse gave up the hunt.

“He never came out to play so I’m going back home. It was maybe a bit daft what I did today but sometimes enough is enough.”

Former heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis applauded Woodhouse for his antics, tweeting: “Ha! I LOVE this story about woodhousecurtis paying a visit to a keyboardwarrior on Twitter.”

Woodhouse joked: "Just found out you can block people. Could have let me know earlier, I could have saved 20 quid in petrol."

He then gave his now no-so-brave abuser a name of his own which quickly started trending - #JimmyBrownPants - before adding: "Seems like #jimmybrownpants is what we all thought he would be,a bully that gets a kick out of being nasty, well today it back fired #coward".
