City left winless across all divisions in difficult round

Rockingham City’s Danny Turner pushes for the ball.

The Rockingham City Football Club’s first, reserves and under-18 teams all put up a fight against Joondalup City Football Club at the weekend, but all failed to secure a win.

Joondalup City reserves travelled to Lark Hill for the match on Saturday, leaving Rockingham City reserves with their heads down after being defeated 4-2 on their home turf.

Goal-kickers for Rockingham City reserves included Ryan Kennedy, 1, and Victor Insaurralde, 1.

Rockingham City’s first team had less luck than the reserves against Joondalup City.

The boys were defeated 3-1 with only one goal scored for the side by David Clark.

Rockingham City’s under-18 side looked to control their game from the start and were rewarded with Josh Mackinder scoring the first goal.

Weak defending allowed Joondalup City back into the game to make it 1-1.

Rockingham City looked to make amends and were soon rewarded in the 22nd minute when Mackinder pounced on a defensive error to slot the ball into the back of the net, for his second goal.

At half-time it was 2-2 and Rockingham emphasised the need to get the important third goal, but it was Joondalup City which scored the third goal 15 minutes before time.

Rockingham were dealt a blow when Mackinder had to go off with what was thought to be a serious ankle injury, and lost 3-2.
