Nomination honours dedication

Childcare worker Judith Cluning has been nominated for an Australian Family Early Education and Care Award as a reward for 15 years of dedication to her job.

As a part of this year’s awards the College Community Child Care Centre director has been nominated for one of the most prestigious titles, the Early Childhood Director of the Year.

Ms Cluning said she was humbled and excited to be nominated for the award.

“It is a wonderful experience to be acknowledged for the work I do in the industry and this centre, ” she said.

“I have worked my way up through the centre in a lot of roles. It has been a positive experience with lots of challenges – it is worth it in the end.

“I have always wanted to work with children and have been working with them for 25 years including being a Girl Guides leader. It is something I have always wanted to be a part of.”

Australian Family managing director and judging chairman Paul Clancy said she encouraged people to nominate their child’s educator, a family member, friend, colleague, manager and/or service in the early care and education profession.

“Early and middle childhood professionals and services right across Australia go above and beyond just ‘minding’ our young Australians, ” she said.

“These awards are one way working parents, professionals, families and communities can thank and acknowledge the fundamental role early year’s professionals perform in the social, educational and emotional well-being of our young children”.

The national winners will be announced at the 10th anniversary gala celebration of the Australian Family Early Education and Care Awards on June 20.
