School zone warning to drivers

Police have reminded motorists to be more aware on the roads now students have gone back to school.

Bunbury Sgt Craig Clarke said it was possible to lose awareness of school zones in the holidays.

“Drivers have to expect the unexpected and keep their speeds down, ” he said.

From 7.30am to 9am and 2.30pm to 4pm on Monday to Friday, the schools zone speed limit is 40kmh.

“There will be an increased police presence in the first couple of weeks of school, ” Sgt Clarke said.

“We’re not trying to catch people out, our presence should remind people to slow down.

“Children still in holiday mode may not be as aware either.”
