Son's plea for information on missing dad
The son of a missing 61-year-old fly-in, fly-out worker says his dad was an “absolute workaholic” who would never miss a day of work.
Police are searching for Colin Meredith, who was last seen at the Silver Sands Resort in Mandurah when he checked out last Tuesday.
He was due to start work in Newman later that day but did not show up.
His son, Bluey Meredith, says his father’s failure to turn up to work “rings massive alarm bells”.
He said it was completely out of character for his father not to contact him and he was “extremely worried” about his father’s disappearance.
He last spoke to his father on October 14.
"Col is an absolute workaholic and he never misses a day’s work in his life and for him not to turn up rings massive alarm bells,” Bluey Meredith said.
"Dad just phone in, phone me or one of the boys and just let us know that you’re alright, and if anyone’s seen him, seen the whereabouts of my dad contact police straight away."
Mr Meredith, who typically works four weeks on, one week off, was staying at the Silver Sands Resort to take advantage of the Mandurah Boat Show.
He was originally from the eastern States but has spent the past six years working in WA and is a father to four boys and a grandfather to seven.
Two of his sons are flying in to Perth tonight to help with the search.
Police say Mr Meredith may be driving a blue Toyota Corolla hatchback he hired from a car rental agency in Mandurah. The car’s registration is 1DOZ814.
Mr Meredith is about 175cm tall with a fair complexion, solid build and grey hair.
He has not made contact with family members since October 15.
