Star comes out for CinefestOz

Australian film star Bryan Brown is a confirmed red carpet royalty at the Busselton CinefestOZ film festival this month.

Festival chairman David Barton said the CinefestOZ board was thrilled to have a star of Bryan’s calibre attend the event, which is held between August 22 and 26.

“Winner of eight Film Awards and nine nominations, including a nomination for a Golden Globe and two AFI Awards, there is no doubt that Bryan Brown is one of Australia’s most accomplished actors,” Mr Barton said.

Brown will join other actors, directors and producers of Australian and international film in the festival program, which includes gala events and a Directors’ Lunch, a schools program, script workshops, short film sessions and filmmaker question and answer sessions.

Brown has appeared in Hollywood hits such as Cocktail and Along Came Polly and recently audiences have enjoyed his performances in the Baz Luhrman Film Australia as well as Beautiful Kate, written and directed by Rachel Ward where he performed alongside Rachel Griffiths.

Mr Barton said Brown was a household name in Australia and was recognised internationally.

“Bryan’s acceptance of our invitation to attend CinefestOZ reflects his respect for Australian film and the events that support it. Ultimately this is a great achievement not only for CinéfestOZ but Western Australian film in general,” Mr Barton said.
