Play sets a challenge
Curtains are ready to rise on Rockingham Theatre Company's latest farce and director Larraine Craig said tickets were flying out the door.
Never Kiss a Naughty Nanny is written by Michael Parker and will have seven performances in its one-time-only season.
Craig said the play posed new challenges for RTC thanks to its mechanical set.
"Never Kiss a Naughty Nanny is a tricky one to stage - there is an awful lot going on backstage," she said.
"We've got a bigger than usual backstage crew that we have been keeping extremely busy, but even that is not enough and we've had to get our cast operating parts when they are not on stage.
"Rehearsals are going extremely well and we're still laughing, which is always a good thing."
Never Kiss a Naughty Nanny is set in a house of the future where disaster strikes around every corner. The selling agents pose as a married couple and take up residence in the home, inviting a pair of prospective buyers to join them for the weekend.
"This is when things proceed to go wrong," Craig said.
"All the usual stuff - people losing their trousers and getting stuck in rooms with no way out."
The show's season starts on May 1 and runs until May 16.
