Karratha schools have benefitted from more than $1500 in donations to The Smith Family from the Karratha Bikers Association's annual poker run.

The funds raised have been used to purchase stationery for Karratha schools and a fridge for The Smith Family's learning clubs in Karratha, which help disadvantaged kids develop academic and social skills.

Tambrey Primary School principal Troy Withers said the school was grateful for the association's donation.

Mr Withers said the money would help provide access to educational opportunities for those most in need.

The Smith Family team leader Daphne Trevurza said the donation would go a long way in supporting students in need at the start of the school year.

"This is the second year the Karratha Bikers Association has fundraised for us and we're incredibly appreciative of their support," she said.

"It's great to see the importance the association places on getting a good education.

"The support of community organisations makes a real difference to the work we do in here in the Pilbara."

Karratha Bikers Association president Liam Lennon said helping children in need was something he held close to his heart.

"Some of our members say they came from nothing and it took someone to put their arm around them and give them some encouragement and support at school to turn them into something," he said.

Mr Lennon said it was good to give back to the community and see the smiles on kids' faces.
