Wax warrior has a lot to get off his chest

Wax on, wax ouch, Rob Truarn is set to lose some chest hair thanks to Just You beauty salon's Deborah Napier and Emma Rose Kiely.

A self-described hairy hardware store man is waxing his chest for children with leukaemia on Black Friday (March 13)in Karratha.

Home Hardware employee Rob Truarn hopes to raise $5000 as part of the World's Greatest Shave at the Karratha store on March 13 at 10am.

It is not the first time Mr Truarn has had his chest waxed - he did it for the same charity several years ago when living in Paraburdoo.

As to why he was doing it again, Mr Truarn said: "It took me this many years to forget about the painful ending."

As painful as it would have been to remove so much chest hair, to make matters worse Mr Truarn didn't have the help of a professional and said it took a bit longer than expected.

This time Mr Truarn put the call out for a waxer through social media and it was Just You beauty salon manager Emma Rose Kiely who saw the request and volunteered for the task.

"We're super excited," Ms Kiely said.

"Hopefully it won't be painful … (but) it will take a fair pot of wax."

Mr Truarn said if someone wanted him to shave his hair as well they could come down and throw some money in the tin.

He encouraged others to donate to the cause and shave their own hair off on the day also.

To sponsor Mr Truarn, search for his name on the World's Greatest Shave website, or visit Home Hardware or Just You to make a donation.
