Illicit substances worth thousands of dollars and more than $20,000 of suspected drug-related money were seized during a traffic stop in Nulsen earlier this week.

Police stopped a vehicle, driven by a 52-year-old Nulsen man on Calman Street and Pink Lake Road on Monday afternoon.

Officers spoke to the driver before searching his vehicle.

During the search about 500g of cannabis, sealed in a cryovac plastic bag, and a 2g white crystalline rock believed to be methylamphetamine were allegedly found inside the car.

Police allege they also found $21,000 in cash, believed to be drug-related, during the search.

The driver was also searched and police allege he had a taser hidden inside his clothing.

It is the third significant cannabis bust for Esperance police within two months.

On March 25, police found seven hydroponically grown plants at a Nulsen property.

About three weeks earlier, 413g of cannabis bound for Esperance was seized by police after an anonymous tip-off from the public.

Senior Sergeant Richard Moore said the community was "frustrated and disgusted" with drug use in Esperance and any seizure was good for the community.

The man has been charged with possession of cannabis with intent to sell or supply, possession of methylamphetamine, two counts of possession of cannabis, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession relating to the cash seized and possession of a prohibited weapon.

He will appear in Esperance Magistrate's Court on May 6.
