Police swoop in on cannabis setup

Kambalda police have uncovered a hydroponic cannabis setup with numerous mature plants at a house in Kambalda East.

Police executed a search warrant at the property and located the setup in a room of the house, along with 500g of the drug.

Various smoking implements and two controlled weapons were also seized during the raid. Police said the plants were ready for harvest and the bust has kept a significant amount of cannabis off the streets.

A 39-year-old Kambalda man has been charged with cultivating cannabis, possession of a prohibited drug, possession of a controlled weapon and possession of smoking implements.

Kambalda Police Sergeant Justin Tarasinski said police were committed to removing as many illegal substances from the community as possible.

“The less of these substances there are in Kambalda, the less impact they will have on our community,” he said.
