Youngsters take to court for tennis clinic

Nearly 180 children attended a three-day tennis clinic in Kalgoorlie-Boulder this week.

The program was organised by the Goldfields Tennis Club and was aimed at getting children to try tennis and encourage them to continue playing the sport.

GTC coach Astrid Kanther said 178 children, aged between four and 16, attended the clinic from Tuesday until yesterday.

Younger children were given introductory tennis lessons while older, more advanced children, played in a round robin tournament. The winners of the tournament were James Forkin, Daniel Hogan, Ben Grace and Logan Rule.

“It went really well and we were happy with the turnout,” Ms Kanther said.

Ms Kanther hoped interested children would take up the club’s after-school tennis program, which starts on August 6. For more information, contact Ms Kanther on 0422 571 303.
