Prime Minister joins artists at gala

Local business people rubbed shoulders with Prime Minister Julia Gillard when she attended an invitation-only event at Waringarri Aboriginal Arts last Tuesday.

Guests watched as Ms Gillard and Special Minister of State Gary Gray received a welcome-to-country ceremony performed by Waringarri artists, before the pair toured the galleries with artist Chris Griffiths.

Once Ms Gillard and Mr Gray were seated, a corroboree was performed before Ms Gillard addressed the crowd.

She was presented with a painting by Aboriginal artist Agnes Armstrong.
