Prickly Moses says a blender was never used in the production of one of the more unusual beers within their stable.

But as you enjoy the Blueberry Hefeweizen it conjures a thought that a well-made muffin has been mashed delicately into a beer.

The fruit is interesting ingredient to add to a brew.

However, like the pastry, Prickly Moses have been able to blend the best parts into a tasty and well-balanced drink.

The Blueberry Hefeweizen has been a limited yearly release for a while and its brief return to the market offers consumers something different to add to their tasting paddles.

The country Victorian operation produces a wide range of beers and a few wines as well as it is situated within the Otway Estate Winery.

Blueberries might not grow on the premises like the grapes but Prickly Moses has shown it knows how to use the fruit in right proportions.

While there is no doubting the key addition from the first whiff from the glass it would be wrong to think this is more cider than beer.

It is unmistakably a wheaty brew. There is the vanilla essence as expected from the style and a splash of tartness.

And the banana esters also help to underpin the brew.

Admittedly, this might not be for everyone. Yet, if you’re keen to expand the delights for your palate, or just want a refreshing change, then The Blueberry Hefeweizen is well worth a try.

Just get in quick before they’re all gone for 2015.
