Kerr assault witness appeal

Roger Kerr received minor stab wound after arguing with the driver of Nissan Pulsar on a taxi ride home from Crown Perth.

Police investigating the stabbing of former Eagles star Daniel Kerr’s father Roger are calling for witnesses to come forward.

Mr Kerr, 53, was in a taxi on his way home from Crown Casino last Saturday night when he was involved in an argument with strangers in another car.

Fremantle detectives said Mr Kerr got out of the taxi on Leach Highway, near the Kwinana Freeway north bound off ramp in Bateman, and approached the other vehicle about 11.55pm.

He was stabbed through the front passenger side window and later taken to hospital with a 2cm wound to his lower chest.

Moments before the stabbing, detectives said, Mr Kerr was involved in a verbal altercation with the offending vehicle at another intersection.

Police released a photograph of a black Chrysler seen parked next to the offending vehicle and want to speak to the driver.

They also wish to speak with the driver and passenger of a light-coloured Nissan Pulsar with black door handles.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
