A man is being treated in hospital after his car slammed into the lounge of a Canning Vale house.

The four-wheel-drive ploughed into the Ninan Way house at about 4.50pm, crashing into the front living living room and becoming wedged in an adjoining garage.

Two women inside the property were uninjured but the driver was taken to Armadale Hospital as a precaution.

A resident said the living room wall had collapsed and the garage was also in danger of crumbling.

It is understood the driver was a neighbour who was working on the vehicle when he accidentally stepped on the accelerator.

Firefighters are working to reinforce the damaged walls.

The damage bill was estimated to be about $100,000.
