Chris Hemsworth has returned to the series that helped catapult him to international stardom.

The Avengers star has made a brief appearance on Seven’s Home and Away, where he got his big break almost a decade ago.

The Hollywood hunk was in Sydney at the end of last year and popped into the set and filmed a scene as an extra in the famous Summer Bay Diner.

In the episode, to air tonight, the 31-year-old can be seen having a burger and a chocolate milkshake as actors Cassie Howarth, Jess Grace Smith and Isabella Giovinazzo talk in the foreground.

Hemsworth played Kim Hyde on the show, joining the cast in 2004. He left the long-running soap three years later and has become one of Australia’s biggest stars in Hollywood.
