Top Gear revved up for Perth

Top Gear team Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond.

The biggest, most controversial, motoring presenters on the planet - Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May - will make their first live appearance as a trio in Australia in July.

Clarkson, Hammond and May Live is a new motoring arena spectacular that will take place at Perth Arena on July 18 and 19 before moving to Sydney.

The show was previously called the Top Gear Live Festival before the BBC sacked Clarkson from the hit TV show this year for abusing a producer.

Hammond and May then quit the British motoring series. It will be the first time all three will appear Down Under together, with previous Australian shows only having two of the three.

Content directly related to or inspired by the Top Gear TV series will not be part of their shows, which means The Stig, clips from the show and the theme music cannot be used.

"The three presenters have been working incredibly hard to make sure it's better than ever and I'm certainly looking forward to seeing them back doing what they do best," creative director Rowland French said.

Alongside races and sequences featuring the trio, audiences will see a motoring battle they have dubbed The Cr-Ashes.

Inspired by English and Australian rivalry, The Cr-Ashes will pit the trio against Team Australia featuring Shane Jacobson, Top Gear Australia co-host Steve Pizzati and V8 Supercars anchor Riana Crehan.
