The pace is picking up now that the boys have found their water element and Felix can successfully cast spells. Their decision to risk a return to the alternative universe in search of Andy proves to be more dangerous than they had expected and has unforeseen consequences. Apart from being one of the best teenage shows made in Australia, this series is notable for its use of landscape as a feature of the story. Creator Tony Ayres says he set the boys' home town of Bremin in the forest so that while they explored the boundary between science and magic they were at the same time crossing a boundary between suburban and rural.
