Gone Girl still No.1 on Aussie box office

Not even Liam Neeson could budge thriller Gone Girl from its top spot at the Australian box office, with the film now retaining its No.1 spot for the third weekend in a row.

Directed by David Fincher and starring Ben Affleck, the adaptation of Gillian Flynn's 2012 best-selling novel earned $A3.130 million, according to the Motion Picture Distributors Association of Australia.

Neeson's new film Walk Among the Tombstones debuted in second place with $1.124 million, while another new entry, the Melissa McCarthy comedy Tammy took third spot.

They pushed horror film Annabelle, a spin-off/prequel to The Conjuring, down two spots to fourth, while Robert Downey Jr's drama The Judge, co-starring Robert Duvall, fell one rung to fifth.

Dracula Untold dropped three spots to sixth, while The Maze Runner lost some pace, dropping two places to No.7.

In eighth was new entry Before I Go To Sleep, starring Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth - another thriller adapted from a novel, this one based on SJ Watson's bestseller.
