Italy January retail sales gain 0.1 percent month-on-month

(Reuters) - - Italian retail sales gained a seasonally adjusted 0.1 percent in January from a month earlier following a revised 0.1 percent decline in December, and were up an unadjusted 1.7 percent year on year, data showed on Friday.

The December monthly figure was originally reported as a 0.2 percent decline, national statistics office ISTAT said. Retail sales gained an unrevised 0.1 percent on the year in December.

The data are expressed in value terms and are not adjusted for consumer prices, which were down 0.6 percent from a year earlier in January, based on the main domestic NIC index.
