Civmec wins Perth stadium contract

Heavy engineering firm Civmec has won another construction contract on the Perth stadium project.

Builder Brookfield Multiplex has chosen Civmec to supply and install about 5300 tonnes of precast concrete units for the Burswood stadium.

The work comes on top of $73 million in fabrication and erection of steelwork Civmec is doing for the structure and roof.

The new stadium job is part of $68 million in new and additional project work for the Henderson-based company.

The clients involved include Rio Tinto, Roy Hill Holdings and GE Oil & Gas.

Civmec will develop a fuel facility for Rio between the Brockman 2 and Brockman 4 iron ore mines in the Pilbara, employing up to 90 workers.

The additional work at the Pilbara’s Roy Hill iron ore project involves earthworks and trenching for lead contractor Samsung C&T.

Civmec is already working on $30 million train unloading facilities at Roy Hill’s port facilities.
