Brave US woman with phone in hand opens fire on armed home invaders, killing one

A Georgia home invasion turned deadly after one of three gun-toting home invaders was shot and killed by the homeowner, and the whole incident was caught on camera.

The Gwinnett County Police Department released the surveillance footage Thursday, which showed three black males breaking into an Atlanta home in the middle of the night.

All three suspects appeared to be armed.

The trio rummaged around a room full of cardboard boxes when suddenly, an Asian woman, later identified in police reports as a 40-year-old restaurant owner, emerged from another room, carrying a gun of her own.

"At that point, she began firing rounds from her handgun and struck at least one suspect in the torso, killing him," a press statement from the Gwinnett County said. "At least one of the other two suspects began exchanging gunfire with the homeowner as suspects fled the scene."

The man who was shot, later identified as 28-year-old Antonio Leeks, later died.

The woman, who told dispatchers she was also shot, and another man living in the home were brought into police headquarters for questioning.

The woman is not being charged because she acted in self defense, cops told InsideEdition.com.

But the police are continuing to search for the two suspects who fled the scene. They were both photographed clearly in the home's surveillance footage.
