A Victorian grandmother who unearthed a 586.5g nugget on an isolated dirt track is hoping to sell it for around $80,000.

Anne Borg and her husband were prospecting near Kalgoorlie two years ago when they struck gold.

The retirees had searched around 2800km of the West Australian goldfields in previous years.

“I saw the gleam of gold and I just looked to the heavens — ‘thank you, thank you, thank you’,” Borg told The Herald Sun.

“I just kept saying, ‘I don’t believe it’ all to myself — because I didn’t believe it."
