Stylish art puts fashion on paper
We tend to define couture as fashion made from the finest, most luxurious and durable fabrics in the world - but London-based "paper artist" Zoe Bradley has a different approach.
The former fashion designer has created paper-based window installations, sculptures and runway props for Tiffany & Co, Louis Vuitton and world-famous department store Harrods.
Bradley's latest creation - a 6m tall and 6m long paper couture dress inspired by the theme Shades of Summer - is on display at Enex100 in Perth.
She flew into WA to install the spectacular paper gown, which features several thousand paper flowers affixed to the dress by hand.
"I wanted to draw upon the idea of a summer Christmas and the image of a blossoming dress," Bradley said. "We were thinking of an Australian colour scheme of gold and yellow and bronze. It's huge, probably one of the largest paper sculptures I've ever done."
Bradley began her career creating one-off showpiece designs for the late Alexander McQueen before collaborating with Japanese designer Michiko Koshino and Icelandic singer Bjork.
"From there, it's sort of snowballed," she said.
Zoe Bradley: Sculpting Style is on show at Enex100 until January 31.
